Saudi king praises Saudi king

This is hilarious.  Saudi cabinet (presided over by Saudi King) praised the statement of the Saudi King. I kid you not.

Propaganda on Syria

The propaganda on Syria (by regime and by Ikhwan and their liberal allies) are feverish.  It is absurd especially in Saudi propaganda outlets.  The mouthpiece of Prince Salman and his sons, Ash-Sharq Al-Awsat, published a picture “from Syrian…

The Israeli "sons of a dog" Revolution

I posted about this yesterday: that Arab youth are referring to Israeli protests as the Revolution of the Sons of a Dog.  Arwa kindly translated the article about this from As-Safir:”Egyptian Recommendations for Israeli “Sons of Dogs”Egyptians…

Political polemics

Iran’s supreme guide, who annoys me a great deal, said that “political polemics” is a sign of weakness.  So what is the alternative?  Just obedience and agreement?

The propaganda war

“The picture circulating with many of the alarmist report of dozens of dead babies in Syria, you will be glad to know, shows a bunch of babies who are alive, hopefully well, and living in Egypt.” (thanks Electronic Ali)

Jawad from Pakistan sent me this (I cite with his permission):  ”I am in Pakistan and terribly concerned about the riots in London.   Will UK’s nuclear weapons fall into the hands of hooligans?”

“Immediately following the protest on Tuesday night, the Mustaqbal Movement in particular and the March 14 alliance in general, began to call the pro-Syrian activists offering political and economic “cover” for those that were hurt. Ghassan Makarem…

Syrian transitional council

I read that the US government is working to form a Syrian transitional council, similar to the council of `Abdul-NATO in Libya.  This is a sure sign that the US government is trying to hijack and thwart the Syrian uprising.

Nada Bakri on US "support" for Arab uprisings

“splitting from Washington over American support for Arab uprisings”.  Excuse me?  Washington supported Arab uprisings?  When and where? Did the US support the uprising in Jordan, Morocco, Algeria, Oman, Saudi Arabia, or Bahrain?  O…

Hind Rustum

Hind Rustum has died.  She was the “sex symbol” of Egyptian movies in the 20th century.  I remember when at age 12 I saw her movie, Rijal Fi Al-`Asifah, and understood her star quality.

Rafiq Hariri lies

Read this transcript about a last meeting between Rafiq Hariri and Walid Mu`allim: it shows how easy it was for Hariri to lie.

Omar Nashabe

All those Western reporters who want to write on the Hariri tribunal should interview Omar Nashabe at Al-Akhbar: no one in Lebanon (or outside it) knows more about the subject than he does.

Rafiq Hariri and the Hamah Massacre

Note on your calenders that the ill-cited, Rafiq Hariri, began his relationship, i.e. his bribes, with the Syrian regime in 1982: the same year in which the Hamah massacre was perpetrated.

Regional tensions

Regional tensions are intensifying.  The show is only getting more interesting but I can’t say that it is a show that one enjoys because innocent Arabs are dying.  But the intensification of regional conflict is good, nay it is necessary. &nb…
