The Amal Movement and the Syrian regime

People forget that the relationship between the Amal Movement and the Syrian regime is very old, and it never experienced the conflicts and tensions that Hizbullah relationship with the regime experienced.  The NBN TV of the movement is very crude in …

Syrian opposition

A group of Syrian dissidents formed a National Council to “lead” the Syrian uprising.  The council includes Ma’mun Humsi (a small tool in the Hariri and Saudi machinery).  The inclusion of Humsi is sufficient to discredit the council in my eyes.

Praising Oman

The propaganda of Aljazeera is now making it indistinguishable from Arab regimes’ TV stations.  I just watched as they said that “reforms by the government in Oman led to the increase in the purchasing value for citizens.”

Jubran Tuwayni Foundation for the Promotion of Racism

The stupid Jubran Tuwayni Foundation gave an award to Lebanese writer, Raymond Jbarah, who writes most racist articles against the Syrian and Palestinian peoples (and inferior Shi`ites) in the Mulhaq An-Nahar.

New Egyptian foreign minister

I am relieved that Nabil Fahmi was not appointed as Egypt’s new foreign minister.  The new guy is Muhammad Al-`Urabi, who started his career in the Egyptian Army.  He served in several Western embassies, including Germany and US.  I saw on Facebook …

Egyptian Prime Minister

I watched an interview with Egypt’s prime minister conducted by the annoying billionaire, Najib Sawiras.  I must confess that Sharaf gives a good impression although he does not rule, and is a mere servant of the Military Council.  But he struck me a…

The Joke that is Aljazeera

So for certain reasons, Druzes in Syria have not yet joined the protests (except as individuals).  So Aljazeera wanted to show that Druzes in Suwayda’ have joined the protests. So what do they do?  They just showed a video of a dozen women sitting in…

Saudi repression

“Women driving remains a sensitive issue in Saudi Arabia. For religious conservatives, it is a kind of Alamo, with the ban a sign that the kingdom still holds to its traditions and has not caved to Western pressure.  The ruling family has been especia…

Aljazeera

Aljazeera no more reports the news: it editorializes senstationally round the clock.  These are the requirements of the Saudi-Qatari-led Arab counter-revolution.

Mistakes happen, every day, in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Libya

“ NATO acknowledged Saturday that its aircraft had mistakenly hit a column of rebel military vehicles last week near the Libyan oil port of Brega, and early Sunday morning the Qaddafi government showed reporters a destroyed cinder-block house that ne…

What Saudi propagandists have concluded

You want to know the quality of trash in Saudi propaganda outlets?  Look at this editorial by the editor-in-chief of the mouthpiece of Prince Salman and his sons, Ash-Sharq Al-Awsat.  The headline says it all:  ”Monarchy is goodness and lasting”.  …

Iraq as a democracy?

Western governments and media don’t know that nobody–I mean, nobody–in the Arab world refers to Iraq as a democracy and no one (outside of Saudi princes’ media) show admiration for the model-under-occupation.

The dumb Mossad spy in Cairo

“Egyptian witnesses told investigators that alleged Mossad spy Ilan Grapel raised their suspicions because he spoke fluent Arabic, participated in prayers and discussed “Jihad” with them, while urging them to continue in the revolt to “overthrow the…

What do you say about a regime that relies on the lobbying of Walid Jumblat?

“« Donnez une chance à Bashar », a insisté Joumblatt auprès de ses interlocuteurs. Joumblatt, qui s’est réconcilié avec Damas depuis deux ans, s’inquiète de « voir couler le sang au Liban », si le régime baassiste venait à tomber. Ma…

Don "Assaad" Quixote from the Middle Ages

How to keep the Jordanian autocracy in place? US and Saudi dispute (among lovers)

“Senior U.S. diplomats have been dropping by the royal palace in Amman almost every week this spring to convince Jordanian King Abdullah II that democratic reform is the best way to quell the protests against his rule.    But another powerful all…

Freedom of expression in the Zionist entity

“In 2009, for example, government officials tried to prevent an Arabic-language book vendor from using third-party countries to import titles originally published in the “enemy states” of Lebanon and Syria, arguing the practice violated the “trading…
