Sa’ib `Urayqat

I woke up to see the chief PA’s buffoon yelling on Al-Arabiya TV. He was yelling (literally as Joe Biden would say) non-stop. But there is a prevailing tone of defensiveness and nervousness among the entire Dahlan team, especially the puppet usurper himself, Abu Mazen. At least he stopped referring to “the vision of his [...]

The Man whose Back is Against the Wall

The Man Whose Back is Against the Wall by Egyptian-Sudanese poet Muhammad Al-Fayturi (my translation):“For whom?I embrace fire while dead…and fightI, who have no land, no countryno face, no timeno glory, no priceFor whom?Your eyes spit in my eyes..I am the fugitive..Stare in my eyes as you wishSay that I was a cowardthat I was [...]

Gaza is a graveyard? Never

“One family buried a slain son over his grandfather. Another bundled up the tiny bodies of three young cousins and lowered them into the grave of a long-dead aunt. A man was laid to rest with his brother. More than two weeks into the Israeli offensive that has killed more than 940 Palestinians, Gazans are [...]

Mansur Rahbani

I don’t have time to write about Mansur Rahbani. Here is an item from archives.

Who is unlucky?

When you watch the steadfastness and defiance of the Palestinians in Gaza, you can only wonder in amazement. Arabs and their supporters used to say that the Palestinians are unlucky because their enemy is Israel. Oh, no. I beg to disagree. Israel is unlucky and doomed because it faces the Palestinians.

"On the margins"

I am not kidding. The official Saudi-Egyptian decision to not attend the Arab summit meeting in Doha, Qatar is that the leaders can meet “on the margins” of the Arab economic summit next week in Kuwait. When Egyptian journalist, `Abdul-Halim Qandil, was asked today on Aljazeera about the Arab summit, he said: “let them all [...]

Deception of MEMRI

Among the various tricks, lies, and deception of MEMRI is this: They cite something that some Saudi-paid advocate said on some Saudi TV station, and then release it in a special bulletin highlighting one sentence or sound bites. But those who rely on MEMRI service don’t know that those people cited also said in the [...]

"Hill of Shame where Gaza bombing is spectator sport"

“Today the hill attracts a very different sort of visitor  the ghoulish and vengeful, the curious and anguished, not to mention television crews. They come not to enjoy the flowers or birdsong, but for a spectacular panoramic view of Israel’s relentless bombardment of the Gaza Strip. It is, for those that like that sort [...]

Maliki as champion of the Palestinians?

“Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki‘s public denunciation of the “major crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza ” evoked a bitter laugh from Saleh as she riffled through pictures of Palestinians thought to have been killed by Iraqi Shiite Muslim militias and National Police commandoes during the height of sectarian violence. “When Maliki talks about [...]

Don’t forget Micronesia, Norman

“Every year, the United Nations General Assembly votes on a resolution entitled “Peaceful Settlement of the Palestine Question.†And every year the vote is the same: it’s the whole world on one side; Israel, the United States and some South Sea atolls and Australia on the other side. The vote this past year was 164-to-7. [...]

Waltz with Bashir

If a Hamas writer were to shoot a film about his experience in Gaza would the Hollywood community welcome him with open arms, and would the liberal media shower him with praise? With or without the “anguish” of the Israel soldiers.

Oh, really?

“Despite the accomplishments boasted by the defense establishment in respect to the military operation in Gaza, it appears the IDF has failed to detain a significant number of Hamas terrorists.“

To use Ethan Bronner’s language: it is a Zionist stronghold

“About a hundred demonstrators have converged on west Beirut’s branch of the Starbucks coffee shop and closed it down in protest over the Israeli attack on Gaza. Protesters are justifying their actions by claiming that the Starbucks corporation’ owner donates money to the Israeli military.”

Greek Objections

“The US military has to had to cancel a planned shipment of munitions from a Greek port to a US warehouse in Israel due to objections from Athens, a Pentagon spokesman said on Tuesday. “I think the Greek government had some issue with the offloading of some of that shipment in their country and so [...]

"Bunch of thugs"

It is quite disappointing and explicable to see an apologist of Israeli crimes writing in Counterpunch. He even refers to Palestinians as “a bunch of thugs.” (thanks Joseph) PS Several people wrote to me saying that he did not refer to the Palestinians as thugs but the article is offensive on more than one level.

Dahlan Lobby

Dahlan front in DC said: “The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) welcomed explicit and strongly worded support for peace in the Middle East based on the creation of a Palestinian state to live alongside Israel from Secretary of State-designate Clinton at her confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today.” The comatose Ariel [...]

Nayif Hawatimah

Has the DFLP’s Nayif Hawatimah ever produced a good idea, ever in his life? This week he has been calling for a command center that would lead all Palestinian resistance. He wants to put the Ramallah gangs in charge. I am sure that Israel would approve of this plan. I mean, would not Israel want [...]
