A western reporter in Lebanon wrote me this: “the lebanese army leaves as soon as shots are fired and comes back when the fighting is over.” She/he is so correct.

Don’t you like it when Israeli experts show their Middle East expertise? “Wiam Wahab, a Druze member of parliament.” Of course, he is not a member of parliament, and never was.

Conspiracy? What conspiracy? Look at this headline in Saudi (sleaze) website, elaph.

Here, the lousy Bassam Abu Sharif claims that he changed Egyptian policy toward Libya.

Look how the Saudi media are promoting Salafite calls in Lebanon: (this is from the mouthpiece of Prince Salman). This will blow up in their face, again.

I thought that Hizbullah media are obsessed with Franklin Lamb. Now As-Safir gives daily accounts of his musings.

“South Lebanese Army Gen. Antoine Lahad, 81, currently living in Europe after having fled Lebanon more than eight years ago after Israel’s withdrawal…” Do you need to read further? I mean, really.

What is quite ironic is that Lebanese Forces’ media (like LBC-TV) are gleefully airing calls for Jihad (or Geeeehaaaad, according to the accurate pronunciation of Irshad Manji) by (Hariri- and Saudi-funded) Salafite groups in North Lebanon. Do they not know what those groups’ views are of Christians? They even refer to Lebanese Christians as “crusaders”. [...]

What is this new role for Talal Arsalan? Does Hizbullah (which is propping him up) think that he represents Druze public opinion? His credibility among the Druzes is equal to the credibility of Ahmad Al-As`ad among Shi`ites–OK, a bit more but still. Clearly, Walid Jumblat still enjoys the support of 90% (of the 5 % [...]

Did you see that? S`ad Hariri issued a statement denying that he fled Lebanon. I did not flee, he said.

Did you see the footage of Hariri (non)Militia in Halba? It is now on Youtube but it is not for the feign* hearted. (No, I will not link to it).Molly corrected me. It is faint hearted.

Time magazine and the “birth of Israel” (more accurately, the occupation of Palestine): “The birth of Israel was a desperate affair; it arose from Holocaust ashes, and Arab countries vowed to carry on where the Nazis had left off.” Tim McGirk wins a blender for being the most blatant, crude, and vulgar propagandist for Israel. [...]

This is the hero of the Hummus Revolution: “”Tell [Hizballah leader] Sayeed Hassan Nasrallah I lost the battle and he wins. So let’s sit and talk to reach a compromise. All that I ask is your protection.”” (thanks Sabah)

Just a word of caution on Lebanon. These are historic times in Lebanon. I have been thinking about the significance of them as I am trying to finish my article for Al-Akhbar, and I have been experiencing my first writer’s bloc. I am not pleased with the exuberance that is exhibited by some leftists toward [...]

Saudi Arabia has just announced the closure of its embassy in Beirut, and the recall of its ambassador from Lebanon. The announcement said that Al-Qa`idah in Lebanon will now officially represent the Saudi government in Lebanon, and is authorized to issues visas.

This part of his memoirs really gives you a good picture of the lousy personality of Bassam Abu Sharif. Hear him brag about his victories–in US TV interviews. (Ahmad Shuqayri did the same in his memoirs–he published three of them, at least Shuqayri was an interesting buffoon with a gift of language).

““This is very much similar to what is happening in Sudan, in Palestine, in Iraq, in Afghanistan and Somalia, [where] the United States is basically instigating and funding civil wars,” says professor As’ad Abu Khalil.”
