The sly style of MEMRI and and its unrelenting effort at maligning all Arabs and Muslims (with the exception of `Abdus-Sattar Abu Risha and his descendants and admirers) through the most unreliable and unrepresentative “selection” of media items really remind me of the style of Goebbels in Der Angriff.

“The Israeli army said that 90% of those killed were fighters. The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights in Gaza, on the other hand, says that half were unarmed bystanders and a quarter were children. Before the latest round, B’Tselem, an Israeli human-rights group, said Israel had killed around 350 Gazans since June, among them more [...]

One of my students here in California is a (Lebanese) supporter of the Lebanese Forces. He (in the blue shirt) recently traveled to LA to see Samir Ja`ja` (Ga`ga` in Egyptian accent). “Lebanese have succeeded in putting Lebanese air – Hawa Lebnan – in cans and exporting them. The can has the stamp of the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade.” I bought one can but it stunk so bad that I had to throw it away. Also, beware: it has been proven that people who have [...]

Oh, spare me your legal mumbo jumbo. Legal? You supported (and now you try like Thomas Friedman to weasel out of that position) an illegal invasion and occupation of a sovereign country and you talk to me about legality? The country is under foreign occupation, and you offer me a legal opinion? And what about [...]

In December, another tech blogger, Marc Orchant, died at 50 of a massive coronary. A third, Om Malik, 41, survived a heart attack in December. Other bloggers [...]

Harvard education/occupation: “When Maj.-Gen. Ido Nehushtan takes up command of the Israel Air Force in May, Harvard University will be able to take a moment to be proud. Nehushtan and his two new deputies are all graduates of America’s oldest and perhaps most prestigious institution of higher learning.” (thanks Laleh)

“The development comes alongside the disclosure that up to 1,500 Iraqi soldiers refused to fight, or deserted in the operation against the radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr’s Shia militia. The numbers, according to Iraqi and American sources, included dozens of officers and at least two senior field commanders. Iraqi officials said that Colonel Rahim Jabbar and [...]

“Ms Holland exposes another side of the man who is now regarded largely as a monster: his devoted marriage to his first wife, Sally, who was Ghanaian; his friendship with Lord Soames, Rhodesia’s last British governor; the respectful and frank relationship he developed with Denis Norman, a white farmer who held several portfolios in his [...]

“In the 1980s who was “Western” and who was “Eastern” in the conflict between the Soviet occupiers of Afghanistan and the ultra-fundamentalist warriors who were generously supported by the Americans?”

This is the verdict of the independent think tank (funded by the US government, and its board members are appointed by US government): “Iraq risks ‘massive chaos’ if U.S. leaves.” Here, we are supposed to say: OK, you can stay now forever. How can you disagree with the conclusions of the US Institute for “Peace.”
