Several people sent me from Beirut copies of Israeli propaganda flyers dropped over South Lebanon. I, of course, will not produce them here. But I am pleased to see the bad quality of Israeli Orientalism. They are so badly crafted. They have not even improved from the lousy flyers of 1982.

I just heard on New TV that in the Israeli indiscriminate shelling of Tyre, a certain In`am AbuKhalil and her daughter were injured. It is getting personal now.

The American Left and the Middle East: The Case of Marc Cooper, II. (Anti-Israel). Marc Cooper replies to my critique (see below) of his post on the carnage in Lebanon. I shall reply to his reply. Well, at least Cooper is honest to admit that he is opposed to attacks on Israeli troops at any [...]

From Egyptian poet’s Amal Dunqul’s Ending (my translation):“Oh…who will stop the windmills in my head?Who will remove the knives from my heart?Who will kill my poor children…?In order that they do not…grow up in the redfurnished apartments..servants..catamites..pimps…who will kill my poor children?”

Because US editors can’t read Arabic (and even the UK’s Guardian), they take the Daily Star’s editorial page (edited by Bush wars’ advocate, Michael Young) as representative of Arab public opinion. Hilarious.

This fellow, who wrote the most biased book on the 1967 war (and the cover jacket of his book misleadingly promises reliance on Arab sources although there were barely any) wants Israeli to go to war against Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Iran. OK. Don’t be surprised if he gets the Nobel Prize for peace next [...]

“A Poor Beirut Neighborhood Feels Brunt of War”
Posted on July 14, 2006 by As'ad
This is a fair article by Anthony Shadid but notice that the accompanying picture is one of Israeli civilians. They just are more cute than Arab civilians according to editors of US newspapers. They can’t help it.

“The beautiful viaduct that soars over the mountainside here has become a ” terrorist” target. The Israelis attacked the international highway from Beirut to Damascus just after dawn yesterday and dropped a bomb clean through the central span of the Italian-built bridge  a symbol of Lebanon’s co-operation with the European Union  sending concrete [...]

Every single politician that Anthony Shadid interviewed in this article, EVERY SINGLE one them, is a member of Hariri Inc. Yet, he wants readers to assume that they speak for Lebanon. In reality, nobody speaks for Lebanon. Some speak for some Lebanese, and others speak for others.

“In the successful prisoner exchange in 2004, Israel held on to three Lebanese detainees as bargaining chips and to keep the battle front with Hizbullah open. These detentions have become a cause celebre in Lebanon. In a recent poll, efforts to effect their release attracted majority support, much more even than the liberation of Shebaa [...]

And this is from a supporter of US wars, Fred Halliday: “Let us be clear about it: the U.S. role in international medical and family-planning policy, its opposition to contraception and abortion, and its mishandling of the issue of AIDS—it’s criminally irresponsible and will lead to the deaths of many millions of people. George Bush [...]

” Israeli missiles also hit the power plant fuel tanks in Jiyeh.”All this in self-defense, according to the US government.

Minister of Ping Pong in Lebanon said that Saudi Arabia understands Lebanon better than anybody in the world. He used to be a communist before he was discovered by Hariri cash.

I agree with my mother: Al-Jazeera is providing the best and most extensive coverage of Israeli aggression on Lebanon. But `Abbas Nasir (who used to work at Al-Manar) gets too excited and too euphoric when reporting on Hizbullah and Nasrallah. Yesterday, he was besides himself.

When it comes to pictures of Arab leaders, you really don’t need a caption. I mean, look at them. Just look at them.

You have to realize how dumb (and savage and brutal) Israeli officials have been in dealing with Lebanon over the years. They always think that if they kill this person, or destroy this village, or kidnap this thousand of people, their problems will be solved, and that the Lebanese will develop a crush on their [...]
