When it comes to Lebanon, Human Rights Watch in New York acts like the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Also, its statements on Palestine seem drafted by the legal advisors of..the US Department of State. Notice in this statement, that HRW is only concerned over the death of the billionaire (and following the Hariri [...]

It seems then when celebrities’ stars fade in the US, they accept invitations from…Lebanon. Nura Jumblat of the Bayt Ad-Din (International–everything in the little homeland with multiple psychological complexes is international) Festival announced that Ricky Martin will be performing in Beirut. On the 500th anniversary of Ibn Khaldun death, I was thinking. We really need a new translation of the Muqaddimah in English. I re-read it (in Arabic) last year, and the available English translation can be much improved. You should read A.L. Tibawi’s critique of the translation by Franz Rosenthal. Tibawi is so underestimated. He [...]

Jordanian Government Uncovers Plots. That is all what it does. Have you noticed that the Jordanian government keeps inflating and exaggerating the size and magnitude of the alleged Hamas plot, by the day. Today, they claimed that Hamas had been hiding rockets, fighter jets, tanks, and 10 brigades. But the picture of the weapons that [...]

Those demonstrations in Beirut: they will never end. But the demonstrators in Beirut today are at a disadvantage. International media (especially those of France and US) mostly follow the clues and hints of their governments and as a result, will not be glamorizing the demonstrators as long as their demonstrations don’t validate the Bush Doctrine.
