The “new” Iraq is a place where appointments are based on qualifications and merit. This is a “liberated” country after all. So the Iraqi president-under-foreign-occupation, Jalal Talabani, searched for the best and most qualified candidate to serve as Iraq’s ambassador at the UN. He appointed his son.

House of Saud is considering permitting private radio stations. Some 20 different proposals were received by the government. Ya: Channel 1 will be devoted to Qur’an; channel 2 will be devoted to Qur’an; channel 3 will be devoted to Qur’an; channel 4 will be devoted to Qur’an; channel 5 will be devoted to Qur’an; channel [...]

Iraqi member of parliament-under-foreign-occupation, Safiyyah As-Suhayl (who was the guest-in-the-balcony in the first State of the Union Speech after US invasion of Iraq) offers a very bleak assessment of the “new” Iraq. When American puppets are turning against the occupation, you know that something is wrong, very very wrong.

“Firstly, the Pentagon says it will wage war against the internet in order to dominate the realm of communications, prevent digital attacks on the US and its allies, and to have the upper hand when launching cyber-attacks against enemies. Secondly, psychological military operations, known as psyops, will be at the heart of future military action. [...]

“The U.S. military said Monday that increased militant violence in Afghanistan was proving “very hard to combat” as separate attacks killed two police officers and a truck driver delivering food to coalition forces in a former Taliban stronghold in the south. Gunmen also killed five medical workers before burning down their clinic late Sunday in [...]

“The Israeli government said yesterday it would continue its bombardment of northern Gaza with an estimated 300 shells a day despite international criticism over the death of a young girl. Mubarak‘s recipe for power is very simple. Oppress the people and restrict freedoms while accelerating normalization with Israel, and follow more closely Washington’s orders. In the last week, while Mubarak was jailing opposition leaders, he announced a meeting with the Israeli prime minister, and his foreign minister refused to meet the new Palestinian (Hamas) foreign [...]

Hadil Ghaban, 8, was killed by Israeli bomb. Members of her family (shown above) were injured. This is Zionism.

Hadil Ghaban, 8, was killed by an Israeli bomb. (I noticed that Haaretz made her age, 12, to make it easier on its readers. Haaretz has to do its job in terms of services to Israeli propaganda.).

In 1986, the current Pope (who was in charge of Preserving the Middle Ages) published a very hateful and kooky document about homosexuals. Does anybody know if the text is available on the internet? (Walid Jumblat finds “really important” documents on the internet after all, and almost every week, Walid Jumblat wins the big prize [...]

Back to the daily From Lebanon segment on LBC-TV, which features “rich and famous” Lebanese, even if they are not Lebanese. Today, it featured former Sen. George J. Mitchell from Maine. Here is a story about Sen. Mitchell (whose mother had immigrated from Lebanon). A former student of mine in Washington, DC was working part-time [...]

Arrested on 5 April, he remained in police custody for four days and on Saturday 8th April he left for India. The practice of any religion [...]

Ma Sha’ Allah Shams Al-Wa`idhin. ما شاء الله شمس الواعظينThere is an Iranian commentator associated with a (government) thinktank in Tehran, whose name is Ma Sha’Allah Shams Al-Wa`idhin. I like his name: most unusual. The full translation of his name is this: Whatever God May Will The Sun of all Preachers. (The Sun of All [...]

“U.S. soldiers who shot dead a Reuters television soundman in Iraq last year breached their rules of engagement and the killing was “unlawful”, an independent investigation commissioned by Reuters has found.” (Will anybody care? No, why do you ask?)
