That is what they so racistly call in Israel the “demographic bomb”: Almost one in four Israeli children is Muslim, the government said yesterday.

An item attracted my attention in the newspaper Al-Quds Al-`Arabi (which is guilty–in my opinion–of harboring sympathies for Saddam and Bin Laden simultaneously). Today, they carried the text of the pro-Saddam Iraqi Ba`th Party. The statement all but claimed responsibility for the murderous bombing of the UN compoud. I must confess that I was personally [...]

Arabic newspapers did not publish yesterday due to the Muslim AlAdha Holy Day. So the pro-Saudi newspaper, Al-Hayat, did not run any headline about the death of more than 251 Muslim pilgrims. Instead, the headline says: “Pushing and shoving at the Jamrat Bridge (the site of the stampede the other day) did NOT cause deaths.” [...]

Lies and liars exposed: Secretary of State Colin L. Powell said yesterday that he does not know whether he would have recommended an invasion of Iraq if he had been told it had no stockpiles of banned weapons, even as he offered a broad defense of the Bush administration’s decision to go to war.

From Amnestry International: In an attempt to end the escalating armed conflict in Darfur, Sudanese government forces and government-aligned militia (the “Janjawid”) are threatening the lives, liberty and property of hundreds of thousands of civilians through indiscriminate bombings, killings, torture, including rape of women and girls, arrests, abductions and forced displacement.

America’s media watchdog last night promised an investigation after pop star Janet Jackson’s breast was exposed during half-time entertainment at the Super Bowl in Houston, Texas. This is how the Independent put it: “Federal investigation is ordered into Janet Jackson’s boob at Super Bowl.”

Last year, in the Journal of Monetary Economics, Paola Sapienza and her colleague Luigi Zingales, at the University of Chicago, and Luigi Guiso, at the University of Sassari in Rome, published a paper that looked at the relationship between religious beliefs and the attitudes shown to foster economic growth. “On average,” they wrote, “religious beliefs [...]

So last week, fighters for the Lebanese group Hizbullah shot at Israeli military vehicles (including a bulldozer) that they said have entered Lebanese territory. One Israeli soldier was killed. Israel vehemently denied that it entered Lebanese territory, and accused Hizbullah of provocation, and it insisted that the bulldozer was in Israeli territory. UN investigated and [...]

We are obliged to recognize intellectual brilliance when we see it: This fellow, on the website of White Supremacist David Horowitz, states that Arabs are, after all, not Arabs, and Palestinians are not Palestinians. His scientific research (conducted with the help of an email-friend by the name of Rami) also reveals that Chinese people are [...]

I have lived for more than 20 years in this country, but I often fail to understand it. There is more outrage it seems over the appearance of Janet Jackson’s breast than there is over the devastating wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. And the NFL, which is known for upholding morality and the values of [...]

Sen. Joe Lieberman has no chances of winning, and yet the New York Times completely ignores the campaign of Rev. Al Sharpton, who also has no chances of winning. The New York Times runs favorable articles on Lieberman regularly, and yet had one long article on Sharpton that I remember: it was all about “alleged” [...]

This guy will fight (unlike Saddam): Fidel Castro has said he will die “with a gun in my hand”, in a defiant speech to anti-globalisation activists.

This is amusing if it were not so sad: Most Britons Favor Iraq Inquiry while people in the US (the country that led the Iraq war and propaganda) just do not care (for the most part).

Now Wolfowitz wants to preach about women in Iraq. Those Bush officials should try to do something about gender (in)equality here in the US, before they preach about women in Middle East.
